On the 7th and 8th of March we, Daniel Hilding and Mikael Schill, visited Luleå University and the Division of Mechanics of Solid Materials. We had together with the Division a half-day workshop on realistic simulation and LS-DYNA. The audience consisted of Researchers, Students and Local companies.
The Division has many researchers with a very long experience in advanced simulation and material modeling. We got an insight in how LS-DYNA is used in reasearch projects involving mining applications, hot stamping, and modelling the phase transformation of metals.

DNV Materials Laboratory http://www.dnv.com/services/materials/ has selected LS-DYNA for welding simulations of offshore- and pressurized structures and components.
DYNAmore Nordic has together with specialists from DNV and Chalmers University of Technology* developed a new material model to accurately calculate the residual stresses in welded structures. The LS-DYNA implicit solves the coupled thermo-mechanical problem in less than one hour.

Dr Mats Landervik has joined our Gothenburg office. He will focus particularly on modeling and simulation of polymeric materials including foams and other applications in the automotive area. He has several years of experience from working in the automotive industry. His thesis with the title “Modeling of Foams for Impact Simulations” concerns both macroscopic and multi-scale modeling of foams. Furthermore, it deals with including the effect of the pore gas flow in foams, which is important for simulating the behavior of protective foams in car crash analyses.
We are looking for more engineers with solid LS-DYNA experience to join our Gothenburg office!
