Welding Simulations in LS-DYNA

With the multiphysics capabilities in LS-DYNA it´s possible to simulate welding processes. The thermal solver heats the elements close to the heat source, and the mechanical solver calculates the thermal strains and stresses. A typical result from a welding simulation would be the distortion of the geometry due to the welding process and heat affected zones.


In this webinar we will go through the implementations made in LS-DYNA for welding simulations, e.g. heat source, material model, weld contact. We will also look at the welding GUI in LS-PrePost and a thermal dumping methodology developed to decrease the computational time for welding simulations.
