LS-DYNA – Change in Nomenclature

Work is in progress by Ansys to remove all references to the words Master and Slave from the LS-DYNA manuals and software and other software such as LS-PrePost. These changes should not affect the input decks, only the manual and terminology in the user interface.

Work is in progress by Ansys to remove all references to the words Master and Slave from the LS-DYNA manuals and software and other software such as LS-PrePost. These changes should not affect the input decks, only the manual and terminology in the user interface. Therefore, we hope that this will not be a significant inconvenience to you users and hope for your understanding of the necessity of these changes.

In the upcoming LS-DYNA R14, changes will be apparent in the manual and software for *CONTACT and other keywords. LS-PrePost 4.9 is updated regarding *CONTACT. We plan to update our training material and other written material to reflect the new terminology, but please note that this will take significant time. The change in terminology varies depending on the keyword; please see the coming manual for details. For *CONTACT, the new words are SURFA and SURFB. SURFA is equal to the side of contact previously called SSID, and SURFB is equal to the side of the contact previously called MSID. For *CONSTRAINED_LAGRANGE_IN_SOLID the new words are LSTRSID and ALESID, which also are more accurate than the previous.
